Job Description

Architect – Commercial Refurb & Retrofit
Glasgow | £40,000–£42,000 | Permanent

We’re looking for an experienced Architect (5+ years PQE) to join a growing Glasgow practice with a strong pipeline of commercial office refurbishments, workplace upgrades and deep‑retrofit projects across Scotland.

You’ll take a lead role in delivering sustainable, design‑led transformations of existing buildings—balancing technical rigour, commercial awareness and creative problem‑solving. This is an opportunity to shape projects from feasibility through to delivery, working closely with clients, consultants and contractors.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading design and technical stages for commercial office refurb and retrofit schemes
  • Developing concept, planning and detailed design packages
  • Coordinating with structural, M&E and sustainability consultants
  • Producing high‑quality technical drawings and specifications
  • Managing statutory approvals and liaising with local authorities
  • Supporting site delivery and resolving technical queries
  • Contributing to practice-wide sustainability and retrofit strategy

What we’re looking for

  • Qualified Architect with 5+ years post‑qualification experience
  • Strong portfolio of refurb, retrofit or workplace projects
  • Confident running projects and managing client relationships
  • Solid technical knowledge of UK building regulations and detailing
  • Proficiency in Revit (preferred) and strong general BIM awareness
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and genuine interest in sustainable reuse of buildings

What’s on offer

  • Salary £40,000–£42,000 depending on experience
  • Clear progression opportunities within a growing team
  • Supportive, sociable studio environment in central Glasgow
  • Flexible working and ongoing CPD investment
