Job Description

Architect – Shaping the Future of Education

Manchester or Glasgow

£40,000–£50,000

Hybrid

If you’re an Architect who believes great education design can change lives, this role gives you the platform to make a genuine impact. You’ll help shape learning environments that inspire students, support teachers, and strengthen communities — all while enjoying the autonomy, trust and flexibility that define this practice’s culture.

This is an opportunity to work on purposeful projects, build meaningful relationships with schools, and take ownership of design decisions that directly influence how young people learn, grow and thrive.

Why this role is genuinely exciting

A portfolio that matters: You’ll work across a diverse range of education projects — from primary schools to specialist learning environments — each with its own community, challenges and opportunities.

Freedom in how you work: Join colleagues in the studio when you want. Manage your time, your workflow and your design process with genuine autonomy.

A practice that trusts you: You won’t be micromanaged. You’ll be empowered. Your ideas will be heard, your judgement respected, and your contribution visible.

Impact beyond the drawing board: You’ll spend time on site, meet school leaders, understand how spaces are used, and ensure your designs translate into environments that truly support modern teaching and learning.

What your day-to-day will look like

  • Developing thoughtful, functional and inspiring designs for education environments

  • Leading work across RIBA Stages 2–5, ensuring clarity, coordination and quality

  • Visiting schools across the region to build relationships and understand real‑world needs

  • Collaborating with a friendly, multidisciplinary team of architects, technologists and consultants

  • Taking ownership of projects, contributing ideas and influencing design direction

  • Producing Revit‑based drawings, models and documentation that support smooth delivery

What we’re looking for

  • ARB‑registered Architect with experience in schools or wider education projects

  • Strong Revit capability and confidence working across multiple RIBA stages

  • Someone who enjoys problem‑solving, communicating and building relationships

  • A designer who cares about the social impact of their work and wants to see projects through

  • A self‑starter who thrives with autonomy and takes pride in delivering great work

What you’ll gain

  • £40,000–£50,000 depending on experience

  • Full flexibility with WFH as standard

  • The chance to shape education environments that genuinely improve lives

  • A supportive, down‑to‑earth team that values initiative and creativity

  • Long‑term career development in a sector with purpose and stability
